Custom Turbidity Barriers
Designed to accommodate a variety of wind, sea, and current conditions, our custom turbidity barriers help prevent silt and other turbidity from drifting away from a work area. Our standard barriers are equipped with 22 oz PVC oil boom fabric around the floatation compartment that offer additional debris and oil containment at the water line. We also install a skirt section below the flotation compartment that can be constructed from either permeable, woven polypropylene geotextile fabrics or impermeable polypropylene and PVC fabrics. This skirt section can be set to any desired depth. In addition, our flotation compartment is entirely heat-sealed (including all flotation elements) on each end, creating a watertight compartment that prevents any floats from shifting.
In addition, the barriers are ballasted continually along the bottom using a galvanized steel chain. At SILTDAM, our turbidity barriers can be used for a wide range of applications, including dredging, shoreline revetments, sheet wall or pile driving, aquatic weed control/harvesting, and marine construction activities.
